Based in Paris, NEW RELATION is a metamorphic entity, a hybrid and multidisciplinary project elaborated by fashion designers-visual artists Mattia Akkermans and Morgan Belenguer.

The project explores the notions of difference, multiplicity, and habitability, rethinking new systems of relationships between supposedly hermetic categories such as human and non-human, living and non-living. Their interests focus on the links of reciprocity and interdependence between these different alterities, and their work seeks to redefine the outlines of these new relationships, new belonging and aesthetics.

At the heart of their practice lies the conception of garments as a transformative tool. Their aim is to explore how to perceive garments in a different way, as something else. Therefor there current working method consist of transposing the structure of there garments made of headstock fabrics into a series of sculptures that can become musical instruments, furniture or domestic objects. These objects are activated during a ritual performance, serving as tools, extensions of the self, and environments.
